LED Holiday Light - Holiday Lighting Maintenance Guide

If you are experiencing problems with LED holiday lighting, the following guides will provide advice and solutions for common Christmas light issues.

What
should I do if the light is off?

Check
that all circuits are switched on and that all plugs have adequate power
supply.

Check
the plug fuse of the lighting device. If the filament inside the fuse breaks,
replace the fuse. It is sometimes necessary to spread the plug pins of the plug
to ensure electrical contact. This is a common problem.

While
inserting the illuminator into sufficient current, slowly place your finger on
top of the bulb.

If
the light is on when a particular light bulb is touched, the light bulb is
likely to cause a short circuit.
Remove
and replace this light.
In this case, the wires are not in contact with the light holder.
Check
end-to-end to see if a sufficient number of lighting devices are plugged into
each other. Do not insert more than two (2) sets of lights into each
other.

If
you insert the light into the extension cord, it may cause an overload. Make
sure there aren't too many lights plugged into the power cord. Also check the
plug fuse of the extension cord. *Note* It is always best to check the light
that is plugged into the wall outlet.

If
the burning brightness of the illuminator is higher than normal, it is most
likely to burn out eight (8) to fifteen (15) bulbs. Find and replace those bulbs
that don't work. Do not replace the burnt out light when plugging in the power
switch. This can cause a surge and burn out new bulbs.

It
is helpful to use a tester when replacing a burnt out light bulb in a mini light
kit. This will greatly simplify the maintenance of the lighting fixtures on the
trees and displays. To use the tester, plug a light into the socket of the
tester. Press the test button on the tester; any defective bulb will beep.
Remove and replace the light.
On a light set
(sphere, 100 light group,
etc.) with more than fifty lights,
remove a light bulb from the end of the light group
or sphere and insert the light into
the tester. Press the test button. Remove and replace the light.
Continue to test each light until
a defective light is
found.

Power
setting
You
don't need to read the electricity bill to know that the outdoor Christmas
lights will consume a lot of electricity. For example, a 100-foot incandescent
C9 bulb consumes three and a half times the power of most TVs! Needless to say,
if too many strings are inserted into a plug, you will quickly overload the
circuit.

Most
homes have a 16 amp plug in the front and back yards. However, this circuit is
usually shared with one room in the home, so not all 16 amps are available. If
you're planning a large Christmas light display, it's wise to calculate the
amperage of your Christmas lights and decorations to make sure it's much smaller
than 16 amps.

The
amperage is usually posted on the UL label on one end of the string. If not, use
the following formula to determine the amperage of the string:

Feet
x watts per bulb / 125 volts = amperage

Use
the example above:
100
feet C9 bulb x 7 watts per bulb / 125 volts = 5.6 amps.

Assuming
other electrical equipment does not use this circuit, other lights or
decorations can be inserted into the outdoor plug. However, before inserting
other lights end-to-end, check the maximum number of connections for the UL tag
(usually three).

Note:
Most Mini Light strings are rated at watts, but amps, so math is done for
you.

light replacement
Grasp
the plug and pull it out of the socket or other outlet device. Do not pull on
the power cord by pulling on the cord.

Pinch
the groove on the side of the slot. Gently pull up on the light holder.

Align
the groove on the spare light base
with the groove on the socket.

Gently
push the light into
the socket until you hear a SNAP tone. This means that the light holder
is locked in place.

Replace
the light only
with a matching bulb in the kit.

If
the light holder
for the new replacement bulb is not suitable for the light holder:

Remove
the light from
its base by straightening the wire and pulling the light out
of the base.

Insert
the new bulb into the base by threading the wires through the two holes in the
bottom of the base and then bending the wires up to the side of the
base.

Insert
the completed light/base
into the light holder.

Fuse
replacement

Grasp
the plug and pull it out of the socket or other outlet device. Do not pull on
the power cord by pulling on the cord.

Open
the fuse cover. Slide the panel on the top of the accessory plug toward the
blade to expose the two fuses.

Turn
the fuse plug and carefully remove the fuse.

To
avoid the risk of fire, replace the fuse (check the package) with only the
correct amperage replacement fuse.

Slide
the panel to the top of the connector plug and close the fuse cover.
